The REALLY good subject – Can You Pick Him/Her Out?

A great subject! This question was one posed by my good friend Sean Michael Andrews on another site recently and I feel it didn’t get the response it deserved. Maybe most people over on that site just don’t know what to say!

I don’t know whether Sean is planning to reveal the results of some recent study he’s been carrying out, or whether he was just curious to see what others thought, but this was his question:

“The extreme somnambulist, the virtuoso, the flopper, the blowdown… can you pick him/her out BEFORE you do the induction?

What indications tell you that this person will be one of the top 3-5% of hypnotic candidates? This is the person who drops like a rock and goes VERY deep. Whether you do therapy, stage or street hypnosis, you encounter these people.

Sean Michael Andrews”

If only there was a reliable method other than actually beginning the process, but I do notice he says “before the induction” so maybe Sean is talking about during what most Hypnotists class as “testing.” (A bit of waking Hypnosis to get us started!)

For those of you who have seen my DVD you’ll know that pre-induction, I’m looking for people who follow my directions exactly, and those who pick up on even the subtleties of every suggestion. If I say “and as X happens you also Y” I make Y something as visual as X and look for great responses to both X AND Y.

Frankly, I’m looking for those who show signs of Hypnosis long before others.

In short, if you look at it from that perspective then they’re easy to spot, because you really don’t have to DO very much at all!

God bless them and send me MORE!

Suggestability tests ARE waking hypnosis aren’t they? Once someone’s hands are locked together in a ‘test’, then it doesn’t necessarily follow that you have to prize them apart and start the formal hypnosis process. The good hypnotist can bounce off this and stick their other hand to something, tell them that they won’t be able to lift a glaas off the table and even achieve amnesia aswell:

“In a moment I’ll tap the back of your hand and it comes free, but it’s at that point that you can’t remember your name – it’s gone, it’s vanished! The more you try to remember your name when your hand un-sticks, the further away it goes”

As you’ve said Reg, the eye’s closed part is just managing the state. An accomplished hypnotist can get considerable phenomena with the eyes open, having spring-boarded off a sucessful suggestability test.

Exactly mate.
And you would know. You are one of the “good hypnotists” you speak of.
And so you should be, you’ve had some good teachers!

Darren’s also a bloody good musician and voiceover artist too.
If you’re looking for a “showbiz” introduction for your show or an assured and well known voice for your audio/video project then check out his site at http://ukvoiceoverguy.com/

You’re too kind, thanks for the plug. Glad you’re happy with the intro I did for you too, it sounds great on your promo video!
